As I have started two – quite different – social networks on Ning. One for a NICU parent group where me and my beloved @zsoa was belonging to due to our Nimrod boy arriving early.  The other for an unofficial alumni formation for the Business School franchise (of Open University in Hungary) where we have been graduated.

While searching for alternatives – mostly for the second and for future projects – I have had this idea of asking my twellowhood on this and ask them a favor to retweet so I get some background on where to go now…

By the way after or before posting your poll answers (and the always welcome comments obviously), you might want to read this article from Steve Hargadon on the pros and cons of the new plans Ning will have compared to the old free plan. Also, reading this aggregated news flow about the Ning changes on Techcrunch will not hurt you neither.

Have just checked how EUR is doing on a weekly chart based on an almost aptly timed question from @SimpleEnglish.

First, I don’t know what the (fundamental) reason is behind EUR gaining strength, since Europe is just as rotten financially as the US or Japan. Second, I would not advise you to take my analysis as a basis for your investment/trading decisions.

First thing first,

we need to see what our beloved charts are showing us:

There are two things that must struck your eyes dear reader. First – the small red circle – showing how large traders are turning north from full out selling. Thus the COT (aka Commitment of Traders) chart for the EUR futures contracts shows lack of commitment to push things (EUR) further (down). The second is the psychological 1,2 mark (support marked with thicker red line) where the EUR turned tails to the void and came back a bit. However the third thing to notice is that EUR has found a quick resistance at the 1,25 mark (thiner red line) after just 2 up ticks.

All in all I believe the EUR will still have a hard time to get in shape.

A good twitter friend of mine Pokerstudent asked me really good questions about getting more followers on Twitter, as:

“whats the best way for me to get more followers buddy, do i just follow as many as i can or do i pay for one of those mass. Follower programs? i dont want to get my account suspended though.”

Here come my real life answers:

Personally, I was never for black hat type of marketing at all. I can share some steps I have done myself with my @sugardayfox account. Please note though that it is a personal account that I do not use for any focused marketing effort. of course I post affiliate links here and there but I am definitely using it as a personal account. I believe this is important when you look at the numbers and quality of my followers.

Here’s how I proceeded more or less to gather more and followers:

First, I followed people based on searches. Simple, but time and click consuming.

Second, I used a list of users who was told to follow back. It’s no longer online thus I don’t give you their link. It was really easy to follow them, but I’d stress how irrelevant they might be for a targeted effort.

Third, I used http://www.Flashtweet.com to mass follow people. But ONLY those following people I had ‘close’ relationship with or get to better know. Quite fast but not focused at all.

Fourth, I started to use http://mrtweet.net that gives a daily recommendation list for users to follow. They use an algorithm to recommend you people based on the followers you already have. I find it a great tool, only it take effort and clicks.

Fifth, I started to use Tweetdeck as a key element in viewing tweets and tweeting. Quite like the search function, the Lists function in Twitter make it a bit less outstanding but still fine, especially if you would have more than one Twitter accounts.

Sixth, I staterted to use Tweetlater (now Socialoomph) that helps you with automating follow backs and is a great tool for vetting followers, beside the obvious timed tweet dispatch function that is also cool.

Seventh, I am starting to use http://www.buzzom.com that is also a great management tool integrating some parts of the prior listed services.

I believe the rest should take care of itself with following the right people, retweeting occasionally, starting up conversations, putting up posts that gets easily retweeted. Note: I have yet to produce a blog post myself that gets retweeted. This means you can find any piece of information that might be important for your target audience, then make a tweet about it and there you go.

There was a great article that came into my mind and you might find it interesting from Chris Brogan. If I have forgot anything it is only because I am way too tired to think in a consistent manner.

First, of all probably you do not greet your neighbor anymore. Sounds pessimistic but sadly true as well. At least in most urban areas and more and more villages.

(Answer: you can greet both elderly women and men by ‘Csókolom’. Ok, it’s not proper, but that’s how it is used)

Also, it worth to note that the idiom ‘Csókolom’ is a shortened and less polite version of ‘Kezét csókolom’. That is in fact, a note for note translation of the German/Austrian ‘Kiss die Hand’. Untill the 2nd WW this expression was widely used in it’s original german version, but written in Hungarian ‘Kisztihánd’.

To be fair, I never really made resolutions. This time is a bit special for me though. First, I became father thus I have quite a few things to change in my life to adjust to the new situation. Second, I practically spent the last year with trying things – lightly. And flirting with true entrepreneurship but not making a home run at all.
Thus, if I should make resolutions I’d take these 3:
1. I will use every day to become a better father.
2. I will take all chances to become a true, free, bold – not bald – entrepreneur.

3. I will take a grab on my ADHD (not diagnosed but strongly suspected) through regular sport activities and a better sleep cycle management.

I get the title from a Queen song. One that I quite like, actually…

Not long ago I became father. Nimrod, my son, has changed my life. Also, I am certain that he has came into this world to teach me. To give me a mirror and show me how one must cry. To teach me about my shortcomings and teach me about pure joy. And help me learn the rules of the game of life…

Also, this is a time for me to think of my father and realize how I tried to copy his bad habits to help him get away from them. Without much success as it has turned out.

Just posting this video (made by my good friend Béla Bagi) to show that I haven’t stopped climbing:

Last weekend we – my dearest @zsoa, alltime friends Béci and Áron – went up around midday to enjoy the great weather (dry and sunny) the best sandstone climbing available Hungary at Ezüsthegy, see map here. The above video shows how to climb the classic 5c (Font) boulder problem of ‘Ezüstnyár’ (Silver Summer or Silver Poplar). It starts on small crimps onto a good but slopy ledge, then some balanc reach to the top.

Another video (also by Béci) about Áron climbing the ‘Reibung’ (Slope) that is 4c/5a-ish (Font) quasi one move wonder. Extra tiny crimper for the left and a thumb up and dreadful smearing for your right hand and foot. (Yes it’s me ‘spotting’).

While, I do trade for some 4-5 years now. Paper or regular. Since then a few friends of mine told me exorbitant stories on Forex or Foreign Exchange trading.

As some other projects held me up. It took me a bit to put my toes in those waters. Practically, the key differences of Forex to stocks or options is the variable leverage you can use. And the scalability of lots traded.

My key interest is in an ‘exotic pair’ – the EURHUF. Since, I am based in Hungary and I work with international clients renting in Budapest. Here’s the website where I often blog about the EURHUF. Also, one of my key goal is to hedge some family savings until Hungary will adopt the Euro.
